Member Access Processing announced on March 7, 2023 that it had opened a virtual office and consolidated its operations digitally and in the cloud. The credit union payment-processing provider said it had reviewed its working practices during the pandemic before making the change.
Chief Customer Officer Joyce Carter said the review had removed inefficient processes, reduced costs and improved client service. MAP cited a Net Promoter Score of 85 for 2022 as a measure of customer sentiment during that period, rather than as a result measured after the office transition.
Following the closure of its headquarters, MAP donated furniture, equipment and supplies to Union Gospel Mission, a Seattle-area nonprofit serving people experiencing homelessness. The donation formed part of the physical office consolidation described in the announcement.
MAP estimated that eliminating commutes and office use would avoid 250 to 300 tons of emissions annually. It compared that projection with recycling 85 to 102 tons of waste instead of sending it to landfill. These are the company's forecasts for the new working arrangement, not reported reductions measured over a completed year.
The provider also expected its digital operations to reduce paper use and time spent locating information across email and filing systems. It linked those operational changes with the amount of time its team could devote to client credit unions.
MAP described its role as an aggregator of the Visa Debit Processing Service platform. Its services span debit, credit, ATM, mobile, reloadable prepaid and gift card programs, supported by training and customer service.
