J-market’s August 2026 rankings placed ¥5,000 JCB gift cards second among enquiries from customers seeking to buy, while ¥1,000 JCB cards ranked second among enquiries from customers seeking to sell to the reseller. Operator Cosmic Distribution Industry published the results on 8 September, using enquiries submitted through its own website between 1 and 31 August. [1]

Buying enquiries and quoted retail discounts

The buying-enquiry list also put ¥1,000 VJA gift cards third, ¥1,000 nationwide department-store certificates fifth and ¥10,000 Tosho Card NEXT ninth. Those products, along with ¥5,000 JCB cards, were marked as new entries in that month’s top ten. The release separately quoted retail selling prices as of 8 September: ¥4,975 for a ¥5,000 JCB card, ¥9,800 for a ¥10,000 Tosho Card NEXT and ¥9,200 for a ¥10,000 Tobu Top Tours travel voucher. [1]

Discount = (face value − quoted selling price) ÷ face value × 100. These are selected reseller quotes on 8 September 2026, not August average prices, completed sales or issuer rebates; delivery charges and product restrictions are not valued.

The pricing makes the difference between face value and reseller price visible, but does not show the customer’s final economic saving. For example, JCB’s own rules say its gift card has no expiry and gives no change, so a purchaser must use it toward a purchase at least as large as its face value. The issuer does not exchange it for cash or another denomination. [2]

Selling enquiries and quoted buyback values

On the selling-to-J-market side, ¥10,000 HIS travel certificates entered at sixth and ¥1,000 Tokyo Disney Resort gift cards at tenth. A ¥50,000 department-store gift card was a new entry in fifth place. J-market quoted a ¥9,400 purchase price for the HIS certificate and ¥977 for the Disney card, both dated 8 September. [1]

The company suggested explanations involving household budgets, travel planning, seasonal gifts and restricted redemption locations. It did not publish absolute enquiry counts, a survey sample or evidence connecting each individual enquiry to those motivations. The rankings therefore describe relative interest at one reseller; neither they nor the quoted prices establish total Japanese gift-card sales or completed transactions. [1]
