Questrade Financial Group had registered 87% of its workforce on QuestStars, its Workstars-powered employee recognition platform, according to a customer account published on June 2, 2025. The programme had launched in August 2024 across a workforce spanning seven countries. [S01]
Recognition and redemption
QuestStars supported peer, manager and team recognition, service milestones and an annual awards process. Employees could redeem points for gift cards, branded merchandise or payroll transfers. Those choices placed gift cards within a broader set of reward options. [S01]
| Measure reported in the case study | Population or comparison |
|---|---|
| 87% registered | Questrade’s global workforce |
| More than 85% recognised in the first six months | Registered platform users |
| Five-point increase in feedback and recognition survey factor | Compared with the previous year |
The first two percentages use different denominators. Registration measured the workforce as a whole; receipt of recognition measured registered users. They are not two parts of one total. The survey change was reported in points, rather than as a five percent increase. [S01]
A useful implementation account, with limits
The case was published by the platform supplier and described the customer’s experience. It did not disclose a control group or show that the software alone caused the survey improvement. It also did not report what share of redemptions went to gift cards. [S01]
For another employer, the practical question is whether recognition reaches staff throughout the organisation and becomes part of ordinary working life. Registration is one indicator of access. The distribution of recognition and the recipient’s ability to choose a useful reward answer different questions.
The account offers a concrete example of combining visible recognition with several redemption routes. It supports a discussion of programme adoption while leaving the wider effects on retention and performance to be demonstrated separately.
