TruCentive recommends using timely, personalized incentives to recognize customers during service recovery, feedback requests and relationship milestones. Its September 2025 guidance argues that a reward’s timing and relevance matter alongside its monetary value.

The company describes examples such as thanking a customer after an inconvenience has been resolved or marking a year with a brand. Digital gift cards, merchandise and experiences can all serve that purpose, provided the reward matches the situation and the recipient’s preferences.

Manual programs can delay or miss those moments, according to TruCentive. It recommends connecting reward delivery to customer workflows so that teams can manage eligibility, budgets and delivery consistently instead of relying on separate spreadsheets and reminders.

Recipient choice is another part of its approach. In one illustration, a person offered a branded mug and a coffee gift card could instead choose to direct the entire award to gift card credit. The example highlights why a fixed package may appeal to some customers but have little value for others.

TruCentive also recommends monitoring redemption rates, customer satisfaction and retention or advocacy measures to understand how incentives perform. It extends the same principles to employee recognition, arguing that prompt acknowledgement of service staff can support the customer experience they deliver.
