Giftbit reported that newly ordered Amazon.com gift cards would require a minimum value of US$5 and Amazon.ca cards a minimum of CA$5 from July 15, 2026. Its July 13 notice concerned digital cards obtained through Amazon's corporate incentives program and distributed through business reward platforms and APIs.
According to Giftbit, the change applied across Amazon's distributor network, rather than only to Giftbit. Orders placed before July 15 were unaffected. The company said it had contacted customers whose reward programs were affected.
The notice also listed revised minimums for European marketplaces, including €5 in euro-denominated markets, £5 in the United Kingdom, 20 PLN in Poland and 50 SEK in Sweden. Amazon gift cards remain marketplace-specific products; the US and Canadian minimums are expressed in their respective currencies.
Giftbit advised operators to review recurring campaigns, automated sends, recipient-choice catalogues and API integrations capable of issuing smaller Amazon rewards. Its suggested alternatives included accumulating several smaller earnings before issuing a card, changing the reward value or choosing a different available brand.
For US programs, the company listed Visa incentive prepaid cards and DICK'S Sporting Goods cards among options available from one cent at the time. Its examples at the $1 level included Benihana, Kroger, Target and a virtual prepaid Mastercard; Apple, Dunkin' and Dutch Bros Coffee appeared at $2. These were Giftbit catalogue examples in the July 2026 notice and depended on product, location and currency.
The update illustrates a fulfillment dependency for businesses distributing branded rewards: the brand's denomination rules can change independently of the platform or API used to place an order. Giftbit recommended updating campaign descriptions and recipient communications alongside ordering logic.
