Buyatab Online announced on November 14, 2017 that it had entered Deloitte’s Canadian Technology Fast 50 ranking. The digital gift-card infrastructure provider reported 627% revenue growth and credited its team and merchant sales programmes. Deloitte’s complete ranking supplies a more precise figure and an independently published position within the award cohort. [1] [2] [5]

Revenue growth across two disclosed fiscal-year windows

Deloitte listed Buyatab 34th in 2017 with 626.8% growth. A contemporaneous announcement by another company in the same ranked cohort identifies the revenue comparison as 2013 to 2016. Deloitte’s following-year list placed Buyatab 48th with 433.0% growth between 2014 and 2017. These records add historical context to the original award announcement. [2] [3] [4]

Different, overlapping base-to-end periods. These are cumulative changes, not annual growth rates, gift-card sales or a constant-base series. A lower growth percentage does not establish that absolute revenue fell. Buyatab rounded the 2017 figure to 627%; the chart retains Deloitte’s precision.

The two percentages use different starting and ending years. They cannot show a year-on-year fall in Buyatab’s revenue, quantify gift-card value sold through merchants, or establish current performance. Neither ranking entry publishes the company’s absolute revenue or a separate digital-gifting revenue line. [2] [3]

The 2017 company release describes eligibility requirements including at least four years in business, revenue of at least $5 million, Canadian headquarters, proprietary technology, Canadian research and development, and at least 5% of gross revenue invested in R&D. This is a selected technology award cohort rather than a representative survey of gift-card operators. The programme also included Companies-to-Watch and Leadership awards and connected with Deloitte’s wider North American Fast 500 initiative. [1] [5]

Then-CEO Johann Tergesen attributed the growth to the team’s continued development of merchant online sales programmes. The contemporary release describes gift-card purchases through merchants’ online properties, delivery by email or text, and Apple Wallet compatibility, serving clients in North America, Europe and Asia. The current company archive also mentions Google Pay; that wording is not backdated into the November 2017 product description. [1] [5]

The recognition documents expansion of a particular gift-card technology provider over historical revenue periods. It does not demonstrate a measured improvement in merchant redemption, customer retention or market share, and provides no basis for predicting the company’s later commercial results. [2] [3] [5]
