ShopBack and Runa announced an expanded partnership on December 14, 2023, aimed at Australian cashback users. The agreement builds on ShopBack’s shopping rewards operation and Runa’s connections for distributing digital value.

At the time of the announcement, ShopBack said Australians could earn cashback across more than 4,000 online, physical-store and gift card brands. Examples named in the release included Chemist Warehouse, Amazon, The ICONIC and eBay.

The release also reported that ShopBack had returned more than $190 million in cashback to Australian consumers. It presented that cumulative figure as background to the expanded relationship, rather than a forecast for the new agreement.

Runa said its Asia-Pacific offering included 29 payout options in Australia and 121 in Singapore. Business customers could access Australia and more than 35 other countries through one integration.

ShopBack general manager Angus Muffet described the partnership as a way to broaden the company’s cashback offering. Runa founder Aron Alexander said the companies intended to keep developing their collaboration in rewards. The announcement did not set out a timetable for additional joint products.
