Modernize Home Services has acquired Get The Referral, bringing a contractor referral platform with digital gift-card reward payouts into a business already selling homeowner leads, financing and marketing services. The deal closed on October 1 and was announced on October 2. Financial terms were not disclosed. [S01]

The purchase extends Modernize's role beyond finding prospective customers. GTR helps contractors stay connected with homeowners during a project, ask for referrals and pay advocates when those referrals convert. Reward fulfilment is part of that workflow, placing gift cards alongside customer acquisition rather than in a standalone gifting service.

The reward wallet inside the acquisition

GTR's wallet is powered by XTRM. The company's product FAQ advertises cash, prepaid debit cards and 200+ digital gift cards, with rewards automated and tracked in its dashboard. Its separate wallet page currently says 150+ gift cards, so the public pages do not establish one reconciled catalogue count. Those choices describe GTR's existing service; the acquisition announcement does not introduce a new gift-card catalogue. [S02][S05]

The distinction matters for businesses assessing what changes. Modernize is acquiring software that connects a referral to its reward, including the administration surrounding payment. The release describes an integrated wallet intended to replace paper checks and manual delays, but gives no new payout fees, reward values or redemption terms.

The public pricing page inspected on October 18 gives the existing wallet a clearer cost structure: ACH/EFT funding is free, while credit-card funding is listed at 3.0% to 3.2%. The chart uses the published upper endpoint for card funding. A separately advertised 3.2% reward-payout fee applies at a different stage; the service agreement makes the customer Order Form controlling. These current terms do not establish a price change caused by the acquisition. [S03][S04]
