Runa has appointed Louis Badcock as chief product officer. In an introduction published on May 17, 2023, Badcock described joining the company after product-leadership work at Cazoo and more than 20 years in technology.
His career began in software engineering before moving into user experience and then product management. He said that combination shaped his approach to building products around the customer experience, business requirements and underlying technology.
Badcock joined Cazoo before its public launch, when the company had about 50 employees. He said it grew to approximately 4,500 people in less than three years, while his product and UX organization expanded from no dedicated team to more than 100 people.
The remit at Cazoo widened from customer-facing services to areas including transport and finance. Badcock also cited experience across retail, groceries, insurance and automotive businesses as useful preparation for applying product ideas in different industries.
At Runa, he highlighted the company's plan to make digital value easier to send and exchange. The examples discussed included gift cards, subscriptions and other digital assets, reflecting a product vision broader than a single reward type.
Badcock said the opportunity to build and improve services quickly was a major attraction of the role. Runa was continuing to recruit across the UK, the United States and Bulgaria at the time of the announcement.
