CoinGate Gift Cards has introduced customer accounts that bring purchased cards and gifts received into a single order history, replacing reliance on confirmation emails alone for finding past order details. The marketplace announced the capability October 7. [S01]

Customers can sign in with email or a Google account. The Orders tab shows order numbers and dates, status, amounts, the price paid, items and gift destinations, with labels distinguishing gifts sent and received. [S01]

Account visibility and the existing data-retention policy

Moving order retrieval into an account makes the treatment of purchase information relevant alongside the interface. The gift-card service privacy policy, dated October 1, 2025, already covers email addresses, order details, payment references and gift-recipient information. It states a ten-year retention period after the client relationship ends for purchase-service information, separately from its marketing-information rule. [S02]

The data behind the story

Published post-relationship data retention periods

The existing gift-card service privacy policy, last updated October 1, 2025 and read October 19, 2026, specifies different periods for purchase-service and marketing information.

Purchase-service retention runs from the end of the client relationship. Marketing information is used while the person is a customer or has consented and for three years thereafter, unless they opt out. These are distinct processing purposes and starting conditions, not a promise that order history remains visible for either period or a new policy introduced with accounts. The policy permits longer retention where legally required.

The marketing rule permits use while a person is a customer or has given consent and for three years afterwards, unless they ask to stop receiving it. These published periods concern different purposes. They are not equivalent to the lifetime of the new account or a guarantee of how long a customer can retrieve codes in the interface. The October announcement does not say it changes the pre-existing policy. [S01] [S02]

Each order includes a link to its redemption page and a support link. The practical change is a persistent place to retrieve the order and its codes, including when the original email is difficult to find. The source does not describe tracking the retailer’s remaining card balance or confirming actual merchant redemption. [S01]

The displayed states span payment, issuance, delivery and refund handling. A completed order is described as delivered and ready to redeem, which is different from evidence that the recipient has spent its value. [S01]

The account release follows CoinGate Gift Cards’ September marketplace redesign. That earlier update concerned product discovery and display; the October announcement adds access to a customer’s purchased and received orders. [S01]

The company recommends signing in before the next checkout so the order enters account history. It does not explain whether all earlier anonymous purchases are automatically imported or how purchases associated with different email addresses are matched. [S01]

The contract terms identify Rewards Distributed, UAB as the gift-card agent and describe delivery of an access link to the Redeem Page. They leave delivery and refund timing dependent on third parties. An account status therefore gives a route to the order and support; it does not by itself confirm a retailer balance or the arrival of money back at a bank. [S03]

The release gives no adoption, sales, redemption or fraud-reduction results and announces no change to underlying retailer card terms. The account capability should be assessed as a change in gift-card access and servicing rather than a demonstrated financial or security outcome. [S01]
