Rockaway Records brought its online and store gift cards onto a connected system through Wrapped, according to a customer case study published on August 25, 2025. Previously, cards bought in one channel could not be redeemed in the other, and store managers had to handle manual workarounds. [S01]
Giving staff a common view
The retailer linked Shopify and Lightspeed and used Wrapped’s dashboard for gift-card management. It also introduced branded digital cards that could be stored in mobile wallets. Sales manager Ryan Baker described a simpler purchase and redemption experience and an increase in gift-card purchases, without publishing a percentage or value. [S01]
The account reports positive customer feedback but does not provide survey results, sales records or an independent assessment. Those limits leave the size of the commercial effect unquantified. [S01]
Why the workaround matters
A system that only a manager can fix can make an ordinary gift-card purchase feel like an exception. The recipient does not see the separate commerce systems behind the counter. They see a balance they expected to be able to spend.
The implementation’s clearest significance is therefore in service design. A shared balance and an accessible management interface can remove the need to explain a technical boundary to a customer. Staff still need clear rules for lost cards, refunds and partial redemption, alongside accurate records of changes.
The published evidence documents the retailer’s operating change and its assessment of the result. It does not establish a causal sales uplift or prove that mobile wallet availability, by itself, drove additional purchases.
