Mandarake has increased the store-voucher benefit for newer shareholders in its two largest holding bands, including tripling the top award from ¥10,000 to ¥30,000.

The Japanese retailer disclosed the revision on September 25. The changed terms first apply to the September 30, 2026 shareholder register and concern vouchers that can be used to buy products at the company's stores across Japan.

The increase is targeted. Shareholders holding 5,000 to 24,999 shares for less than one year will receive ¥10,000 in voucher value, compared with ¥7,500 previously. Those with at least 25,000 shares and less than one year of qualifying tenure will receive ¥30,000, up from ¥10,000.

Longer-held benefits remain unchanged

The corresponding awards for shareholders meeting the one-year tenure test stay at ¥20,000 and ¥50,000. Lower holding bands are also unchanged.

For 100 to 499 shares, the annual vouchers remain ¥500 for holdings under one year and ¥1,000 after the tenure threshold. The 500-to-2,499-share band remains at ¥2,000 and ¥5,000, while 2,500 to 4,999 shares continue to qualify for ¥5,000 and ¥10,000 respectively.

That distinction prevents the new ¥30,000 figure from being mistaken for a benefit offered to every shareholder. It applies to a specific larger holding band before the longer-held award takes effect.

Mandarake defines one-year tenure through the same shareholder number appearing on at least three consecutive March 31 and September 30 registers. Vouchers are awarded against the annual September 30 register and are valid from January 1 through December 31 of the following year.

These longer-holder awards are unchanged. Eligibility uses the same shareholder number on at least three consecutive March and September records. Values are not actual redemptions or investment returns.

A retail instrument inside shareholder rewards

Mandarake's business includes secondhand books and merchandise, as well as its own publications. The voucher program directs a shareholder benefit into spending within that retail network, rather than paying an unrestricted cash amount.

The company said the revision is intended to thank shareholders, increase the attraction of ownership and encourage medium- to long-term holdings. The higher newer-holder awards narrow the gap with long-term voucher amounts at the upper tiers, although the latter still remain larger.

Only the two largest bands increased. Vouchers are for the issuer's stores and have January-December validity in the following year. No actual redemption, incremental sales or shareholder-retention outcome is reported.

The September decision separately introduces one free annual authenticity appraisal for holders of at least 30,000 shares. That service, normally priced at ¥50,000 before consumption tax, is not an additional ¥50,000 of store-voucher balance and applies only to items the company handles and can assess.

The disclosure does not report voucher redemption volumes or the number of shareholders qualifying for the higher awards. Its confirmed change is the face value available to two newer-holder bands, with the rest of the monetary tier structure preserved.
