TruCentive outlined short-term sales incentive programmes using gift cards and other recipient-selected rewards in guidance published on April 8, 2025. It linked these occasional programmes to defined business objectives and distinguished them from salary, commission and scheduled bonuses.
The suggested uses included product launches, inventory reduction, end-of-period targets and responses to competitive pressure. TruCentive also discussed pairing sales-team rewards with incentives aimed at customers.
Gift cards were one option within a broader selection that included payments, merchandise, charitable choices, experiences and paid time off. The company argued that allowing recipients a choice could make the reward more relevant to their interests.
For programme design, it recommended a limited duration, specific goals and consistent criteria for earning rewards. Team-based awards and recognition from managers were proposed alongside individual incentives.
TruCentive also advised keeping redemption straightforward and collecting feedback from sales staff. The guidance offered planning ideas rather than results from a named campaign, and did not quantify an expected increase in sales.
