Shannon Construction connected employee safety recognition with Whistle Rewards and Procore reporting, according to a case study published by Whistle on December 13, 2024. The Pittsburgh contractor sought to recognize individual behavior across its workforce and reduce manual reward tracking.
The case study says Shannon had already recorded three years without an accident before the change. Its earlier system relied on gift cards, company merchandise and bonuses that largely went to foremen. The stated problem was extending recognition and clear feedback to other workers, rather than establishing an accident-free record for the first time.
Recognition tied to recorded activity
Whistle’s account describes using the Procore integration to track safety activity and support reporting. Individual workers could receive feedback and recognition for specific actions, giving them a clearer connection between the behavior and the reward.
Shannon safety director Mike Kaminsky emphasized that clarity in the published case study. The first quarterly review was presented as evidence that recognition was reaching employees at more levels, including frontline workers.
Training and software adoption
The case study also describes spot bonuses used for activities beyond routine safety recognition. These included adopting software and completing online training in safety and IT security, with Procore reports helping the company track participation.
Whistle presents the implementation as a change in the way Shannon administers incentives: connecting records, feedback and rewards to individual activity. The source’s broader operational examples include daily logs, submittal response times and employee recognition, while the Shannon account focuses on safety engagement and training.
