Buyatab combined its annual partner summit with Stored Value Solutions' SVS Exchange in Fort Lauderdale in February 2020, creating three consecutive days of sessions for gift card programme operators. The company described the event in a recap published on March 26. [S01]

The arrangement placed the one-day Buyatab Beyond immediately after the two-day SVS conference. It brought physical and digital gift cards into the same programme, alongside wallet adoption, promotion design and fraud controls.

From programme design to customer use

Matias Marquez, identified in the recap as Buyatab president, joined SVS speakers Joey Froedge and Amie Miller to discuss the balance between physical and digital formats. Marquez also addressed the ecommerce market and considerations when selecting a digital gift card provider.

Froedge presented SVS' mobile wallet offering and its proposed influence on consumer behaviour. Those were supplier presentations about capabilities and potential benefits, rather than independently measured sales outcomes. [S01]

Fraud and promotions share the agenda

Buyatab product manager Maria Nearing and SVS' Daniel Maddox covered fraud exposure and customer protection. Maddie Holeksa, then Buyatab's vice president of client development and operations, discussed promotions using examples from gift card programmes.

For operators, the agenda connected two practical decisions: making gift cards easier to buy and use, and managing the risks that accompany that access. The recap did not publish attendance figures, fraud reductions or sales results from the examples. Its contribution was the range of operational issues brought together at the event. [S01]
