Buyatab used its 2019 Montreal partner summit to discuss planned accessibility features for online gift card purchasing, alongside sessions on branding, fraud and ecommerce. The two-day event was described in the company's June 28 recap. [S01]

Accessibility reaches the purchasing page

Maria Nearing, then Buyatab's product manager, presented tools and features intended to make purchasing pages more inclusive for people with disabilities. The discussion addressed the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and their application to buying gift cards online.

The announcement was a preview of features being launched. It did not establish that every client had enabled them, identify an independent accessibility audit or certify that all purchasing pages met a particular conformance level. [S01]

Brand values alongside checkout design

Keynote speakers Alex Lefebvre and Pascal Routhier from creative agency Rethink discussed how a brand's actions and values can influence customer relationships. Buyatab framed their approach around cause-driven initiatives and customer loyalty. The recap did not supply research methods or numerical findings to measure that relationship.

The combination made the summit relevant to both marketing and product teams. A gift card programme has to communicate why a customer should choose the brand, while its purchase journey has to be usable. The Montreal agenda placed those questions together without treating a marketing presentation as proof of commercial performance. [S01]
