Buyatab’s review of 2020, published on January 28, 2021, identified changes to how merchants could present gift card offers and deliver promotional rewards. The company said it had added support for multiple promotions at once, dynamic messages about available deals, and delivery of multiple bonus cards in one email. [S01]
Three changes along the purchase journey
| Feature reported | Part of the customer journey |
|---|---|
| Multiple promotions offered simultaneously | Presentation of available offers |
| Dynamic messages about a missed deal | Information shown while a customer considers a purchase |
| Multiple bonus cards in a single email | Delivery of the promotional rewards |
The changes address separate operational questions. A merchant may run several offers, a shopper may need help understanding whether a purchase qualifies, and a recipient may receive more than one bonus card. Bringing those functions into the platform can simplify programme administration, but the details of eligibility and redemption still need to be clear.
Buyatab’s summary does not say that multiple promotions can be stacked on the same purchase. Presenting offers concurrently is different from allowing their benefits to be combined. Merchants and customers would need the actual campaign rules to determine which treatment applies. [S01]
Delivery is part of the promotion
Consolidating bonus cards into one message changes the packaging of delivery. It does not, by itself, establish a shared balance or change the terms of individual cards. A recipient still needs to know which card can be used, where it is accepted and whether a separate promotional condition applies.
A campaign continues after checkout. The offer has to be understood, the promised reward must arrive, and the recipient has to be able to identify and use it. A simpler email can help organise that experience without replacing the underlying product information.
What the update establishes
Buyatab described the features as work completed during 2020 and said it also launched digital gifting programmes for new clients ahead of the holiday period. It did not identify those clients or publish before-and-after results for conversion, delivery or support demand. [S01]
The release therefore supports a historical product update rather than a claim of measured sales improvement. For business buyers, the relevant development is a broader set of tools for managing gift card promotions and the rewards they generate.
