Choice Hotels announced a multi-year credit card agreement with Wells Fargo and Mastercard on February 14, 2023. Wells Fargo would issue the new Choice Privileges card, while Mastercard would provide its exclusive payment network.

The announced earning structure offered five points per dollar at participating Choice hotels, three in selected everyday categories and one on other purchases. Benefits included automatic Gold Elite status through ten qualifying night credits and access to eligible World Elite Mastercard services.

Existing cardholders were scheduled to receive the new program's benefits from May 1, 2023, when new applications would also be accepted. Choice said converted accounts would not face increases to their interest rates or fees because of the transition.

The card sat alongside Choice's wider loyalty offering, which included welcome-gift options on qualifying weeknight stays and points for reward nights. At announcement, the company said members could redeem hotel rewards across more than 7,500 properties and over 20 brands.
