Clutch introduced early access to community settlement on September 28, adding a route to earn or forfeit the Points used for gift-card rewards. A later operating account dated October 9 says access was extended to all eligible players on September 29 and reports actual Points flows from the first ten days. The later data enrich the original rollout account rather than change its announcement date. [1] [5]

Deposits and bounties move the balance used for rewards

An eligible player who did not predict on a news market can propose its result, supply a justification and source, and lock a Points deposit. Another eligible account can back a different answer with an equal deposit. Under the shipped instructions and the October operating account, each contest restarts a 12-hour period; the final uncontested proposal determines settlement. Data-driven markets remain automated, and a market with no proposal after 72 hours returns to the operator’s usual process. [1] [5]

The data behind the story

Two sources of Points paid to community resolvers

Clutch’s October 9 account of the first ten days separately reports company bounties and Points transferred from losing verdict deposits.

Operator-reported in-app accounting, not cash, purchased gift-card value or an independent audit. These two components sum to the separately reported 273,200 Points net won; that total is not a third flow. No cash conversion or gift-card redemption rate is inferred.

Winners receive their deposits back and share the other side’s forfeited deposits plus a Clutch-funded bounty. The October report separately identifies 104,450 Points in bounties and 168,750 transferred from losing verdicts, and reports 273,200 Points net won. This is an internal reward-balance ledger. It does not disclose the cost to Clutch of subsequent gift-card fulfilment, a redeemed face-value total or a payout in money. [1] [5]

The distinction between balances matters. Credits are used to make predictions; Points are the balance offered for gift cards and donations. The public shop reviewed on October 19 lists examples including Amazon.com, Apple and Ace Hardware, with the displayed USD5 entries starting at 20,500 Points. That current minimum is not a uniform cash exchange rate for every reward or a basis for converting the reported bounty pool into gift-card expenditure. Clutch identifies Tremendous as its fulfilment partner; the reviewed sources do not independently verify individual deliveries. [2] [3]

The September instructions require an account at least 20 days old, at least ten prior predictions and sufficient Points. After five settled resolutions, a resolver must maintain at least 60% accuracy under the operator’s rules. Accounts must be in good standing and cannot resolve a market in which they predicted. The earlier September 9 concept is not an operative fee or bounty schedule: its hypothetical examples and older update wording are superseded by the shipped and later operating descriptions. The operating figures reveal activity, with accuracy limits

Clutch reports that 591 of its 666 settled markets had a single proposal that nobody contested, while 75 drew competing stakes. In 38 of those 75 contested markets, the first proposer finished on the losing side. These are claims about how the mechanism operated, not a controlled comparison with staff settlement or evidence of increased gift-card demand. [5]

The data behind the story

Most settled markets had one unchallenged proposal

The operator reports 666 community-settled markets in its October 9 first-ten-days account, grouped by whether a proposal was contested.

Two directly stated, mutually exclusive groups in the same 666-market population. Not independent fact-checking, gift-card claims or total users. The separate 673 markets opened since September 30 and 671 first proposals use a different denominator.

A separate cohort in the same update contains 673 markets opened since September 30, of which 671 received a proposal. It reports an 11-minute median wait for an initial proposal and a 12-hour-25-minute median completion time. Those are different stages of the process; the first-proposal measure must not be presented as total settlement time, and the opened-market denominator must not replace the 666 completed-market population. [5]

The operator says it corrected four of the 666 verdicts and describes 99.4% as having stood. That is not an independently established truth rate. Its own Tropical Storm Rachel example says the final answer survived the countdown although the market’s stated time-specific evidence favoured the other answer. The company left that result in place, demonstrating that survival of a challenge window and factual correctness can diverge. [5]

From October 5, Clutch says its corrections also reallocate Points: it pays the side it considers correct and takes back winnings from the other side. This makes its correction policy relevant to the balance later used for rewards. The launch and follow-up disclose no gift-card redemption conversion, fulfilment cost, retention effect or external audit of the underlying records. The figures establish reported activity and incentive transfers, while leaving those commercial outcomes unresolved. [5]
