Runa announced its launch in India in February 2025, adding payout options through hundreds of local merchants and support for rewards denominated in Indian rupees. The company said it would handle currency conversion for businesses using the service.
The local merchant examples included Flipkart, Myntra and BigBasket. Runa also highlighted Shoppers Stop, PVR Cinema and Nykaa, giving reward programmes options across fashion, groceries, cinema and beauty products.
The provider positioned the expansion around businesses seeking to reach recipients in India through digital gift cards. The announcement described a catalogue of merchant rewards, rather than identifying every product as a bank-account transfer or presenting Runa as the issuer of the underlying retailers' cards.
