LINE Digital Frontier and Blackhawk Network Japan announced a retail funding route for LINE Manga on June 19, 2026: prepaid cards scheduled to arrive at approximately 14,600 Lawson stores from June 23. The cards let a purchaser give account credit to a reader, who chooses content after redeeming the PIN. [1]

Cash paid and reading credit received

The three announced cards cost JPY 1,000, JPY 3,000 and JPY 5,000, supplying 1,040, 3,150 and 5,300 Manga Coins respectively. These are ordinary card credits; the separate launch lottery added a chance of free bonus coins. Participating locations included Lawson, Natural Lawson and Lawson Store 100, with some stores excluded. [1] [4]

Redemption requires a LINE Manga login and PIN entry in a web browser. The notice explicitly excludes direct loading through the app. Lawson supplies the retail checkout, BHN the prepaid distribution connection, and LINE Digital Frontier the reading service; their commercial split is undisclosed. [1] [4]

LINE Manga began operating in Japan in 2013 and offers original, exclusive and early-access comics. Its operator, LINE Digital Frontier, is part of WEBTOON Entertainment. In September 2024, LINE Digital Frontier consolidated eBookJapan and bookfan into its operations while retaining separate platforms. That earlier transaction provides company context and was separate from this prepaid launch. [1] [2] [3]

The additional checkout can serve a gift buyer who does not use the reading service. It also gives existing readers another way to fund an account. Neither mechanism establishes incremental content spending, which would require purchase and subsequent usage data.

The launch lottery offered finite bonus prizes

The original campaign ran from June 23 at 00:00 to September 20 at 23:59, 2026, and has ended. Purchase and PIN redemption during the campaign entered the buyer into a lottery, with repeated participation permitted. The June announcement allocated 300 first prizes, 450 second prizes, 4,500 third prizes and 7,500 fourth prizes. [1]

The campaign has ended. Prize counts are announced allocations, not prizes claimed or winning odds; the number of entries is undisclosed.

First prizes supplied bonus coins equal to 70% of the card purchase price, with 100 prizes for each denomination. Second prizes supplied 50%, with 150 for each denomination. The lower tiers supplied 100 or 50 coins. All lottery awards were free bonus coins, distinct from ordinary purchased credit. The announcement gave no total number of entries, so these allocations cannot establish a winning probability or average rebate. [1]

Lawson’s page retains a June 23 heading but currently describes a later July 21 to September 20 promotion that also offered 10,000 fried-chicken vouchers. That additional promotion is separate from the original coin-prize allocation shown here. Its page says bonus coins have an expiry and that purchased prepaid cards cannot be returned, refunded or exchanged. [4]

The announcements establish product terms and promotional capacity. They do not disclose card sales, claimed awards, repeat purchases or whether retail gifting created new paying relationships. Those are the measures needed to judge commercial results.
